Over the last two decades, the global number of buildings taller than 656 feet (200 meters) has increased by 567%, up from 260 in 2000 to 1,733 in 2020. As a result, tall buildings, which can host a large number of occupants, have become a common feature in modern cities. More than half of the world’s population now lives in urban areas.
